How does call recording work?

There are two ways to record a call:

1. Recording an Outgoing Call:

To record a call that you are about to make, you can add either *18 or 9918 as a prefix to the phone number. For example, to record a call to 514-888-2424, you would dial either *185148882424 or 99185148882424.

Please note that if your phone's internal dial plan is not configured to pass the *18 or 9918 prefix to our network, the call will fail.

2. Recording an Ongoing Call:

To record a call that is already in progress (either inbound or outbound), you need to dial *18 to start the recording. After you have finished, you can either dial *18 again or simply hang up the call.

After the recording is complete, you will receive an email containing the audio file.

Important: Before you can record ongoing calls, you need to acquire the “Recording on Demand” service, which can be ordered online through the Voice Portal. However, outbound calls made with a prefix do not require any additional service activation.
